That is completely normal. You can tell me your situation in your own words and, from there, I will explain what type of filing or combination of services makes sense. You do not need to come in knowing the technical name of the form.

My practice is focused on immigration based on family ties and some special cases (asylum, SIJS, certain paroles, U or T visas, VAWA, among others), as well as Florida family law. If your case is in another area (for example, employment or business), it most likely is not the focus of my day-to-day work.

In many cases, yes. When immigration and family are connected (for example, divorce and residency, custody and filings for minors), it is helpful for one attorney to have visibility into both fronts. In the initial consultation, we review whether it makes sense for me to handle everything from the same office.

At a minimum, I need to know your current immigration situation, how you entered the country, your close family history, and whether you have had prior filings or issues with immigration or in courts. From there, I will explain what options exist and what service corresponds to each.

Yes, we can review what was filed, any responses you have received, and any deadlines that are open. In the consultation, I will tell you whether it makes sense for me to take over from that point or whether it is better to continue another way.

The most honest thing in those cases is to tell you clearly. If it is not the type of matter I handle, I will tell you, and when possible, I will try to point you toward the type of professional you should look for.

Yes. In immigration, because it is federal law, I can help even if you live in another state, as long as it fits the services I offer. In family law, cases are limited to the state of Florida.

It depends on the type of case. Some services are handled with flat fees per stage and others require a different approach. In the initial consultation, in addition to reviewing your situation, I will explain transparently how fees would be structured in your specific case.
